A reliable pick for a whistle-stop in Rethymno with decent value for money. The setting around the palace was really beautiful, providing great views of both mountains and the sea. Check out the historical exhibits for a unique experience.

The hotel is in an excellent location, within easy walking distance of the old town with its shops and tavernas.
The breakfast on offer is of very poor quality and the total absence of any staff to clear away dishes means that the breakfast room becomes somewhat squalid.

It was pleasant stay, I appreciated fine food.
The room I booked was tidy and well-equipped with baths and a balcony plus a great view as expected. The breakfast was above average, with a wide range of food...

Had a great week at Achillion Palace! The rooftop pool offered beautiful views, perfect for relaxing after exploring the charming old town just minutes away. The staff were super nice and always ready to help. Only downside was the outdated shower, but overall a lovely stay!

The desk staff people were all extremely friendly, gentle, and polite. The hotel felt extremely safe. The wide, white marble stairs look out over the garden courtyard and make the walk to your room very pleasant. You can also use the small lift if you prefer. The breakfast here is wonderful-- suitable for travelers from many cultures. There were hot egg/omelette type things, bacon, ham, and cheese, rolls and fresh loaves of bread, regular sliced bread, cereal, many types of jams, butter, and chocolate spread, fresh fruit, coffee, tea, juice, cold water in pitchers, and sweet pastries as well. You could eat indoors overlooking the courtyard, or in the shady courtyard itself. The rooftop pool is pretty and serene, with incredible views of the harbor and the city. The rooms are pleasant, comfortable, and very clean. Ours had a balcony overlooking the harbor with table and chairs and a handy, discreet clothes drying area. Much attention to detail in this hotel. In my experience, it's difficult to find a reasonably priced hotel on Crete that is still nice and does not sacrifice comfort or pleasure. Heraklion fits the bill perfectly.

Achillion Palace was an ideal hotel for our holiday, close to the beach, right in the middle between the old and new areas. The old town was a 2 minute walk, loads of shops, tavernas etc. Hotel was perfectly comfartable, clean and the staff friendly. We had a great stay in Rethymnon.

Location was excellent. Really close to the old town and the beach. The staff were helpful and communication before and during our stay was very good.
Breakfast could have been more varied. There was limited staff during breakfast time which meant that often tables were not cleared out quickly enough and the food was not replenished in time. But when asked they responded straightaway. Also, there were only steps at the entrance of the hotel which meant that we had to lift our suitcases ourselves, but again, when asked for help the concierge was happy to help.

Recommend it for couples looking for a cozy stay
Had a large, comfy bed, made it hard to get up in the morning! Plus, the breakfast was decent with a good selection, but I wouldn't call it gourmet.

I liked the fact that it was clean and the room had obviously been rennovated recently. Staff was very friendly and breakfast was adequate. I particularly enjoyed having breakfast near the garden. Location was also great as it was very close to the old town and the shopping centre.
The elevator was quite old and needs to be replaced. The pool on the roof also looked unattended and sunbeds were not enough.

Friendly helpful staff. Large, nice room with balcony. Good location if you like to be both near the town and also have access to beach/seafront. Very good value for money. Good to have a fridge in room.
Room was cleaned only 3 times out of the 6 days - I believe the cleaners finished at 3.30pm, but when I arrived back to my room just past 3pm, the room still was not cleaned. It may have been one of the last rooms on the cleaners schedule, but is it that unusual that guesrs wish to spend some time in room in the afternoons (given the heat outside!)? Picture of hotel in publicity material a bit misleading - I thought it might be possible to have some kind of sea/harbour view, but the hotel is located off the sea front on a street overlooking the road and other buildings on opposite side. No tea and coffee making facilities - not even access to a kettle.

With a fantastic location just minutes from the beach. The rooftop pool offered fine views, and breakfast in the serene garden was a good start to the day.

A nice hotel with very good location. It is located at the entrance of Rethymno's old town and is also a 2 min walk from the beach. Taxi center, bank and 24 hours open restaurant is next door. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful, breakfast buffet was good and the rooms were cleaned every day. Fridge, hairdryer, tv and air conditioning in the room. We were lucky and got a room on the 5th floor with a sea view. We did not use the pool but it looked fine. Poor parking facilities, it is recommended to park at the harbor (about 10 euros per day). We would like to stay at Achilleon Palace again.
